![]() ![]() By default, a cell reference is a relative reference, which means that the reference is relative to the location of the cell. if you are using the example, correct the formula in cell d4 to refer only to the tax rate in cell e2 as an absolute reference, then use the fill handle to fill the formula from cells d4 to d14. create a formula that uses an absolute reference. Double click a cell to see the copied formula and the relative cell references. relative references are especially convenient whenever you need to. for example, if you copy the formula =a1 b1 from row 1 to row 2, the formula will become =a2 b2. when copied across multiple cells, they change based on the relative position of rows and columns. by default, all cell references are relative references. ![]()
